Thanksgiving is I believe a uniquely American holiday, not one that we really celebrate in the UK, though I have often thought we should. I like family times and what better reason to get together than to give thanks for what you have. It is also a good time to reflect on the positives in our lives. I am thinking here of non-material things such as friends and family. I often think we should adopt the idea of a Thanksgiving here. With this theme very much in my mind, I have been reflecting how fortunate I am, my family is great, very tolerant (with me they kind of have to be). I am also very fortunate with my friends and work colleagues too. I had a discussion yesterday with an old friend of mine, we haven’t met up for a number of years. We belonged to the Guild of Erotic Artists, a wonderful collection of very individual arts professionals. Working in the same field of erotic art you might think there would be a constant rivalry, but if there was the case I have to say that never saw it in the fourteen years or so I was a member. All I found was a group of friendly helpful artists who would rather draw, paint, sculpt or photograph sexy pictures then bowls of fruit. It was a golden time for me. I feel saddened that the organization folded this year, but chatting to my friend reminded me of all the good times and exhibitions we did. I give thanks for that and all the new fun things I am still to do.
How was your thanksgiving? What kind of time did you have? Quiet family time or a big party? Whichever it was, I hope you enjoyed the occasion.
