THE WRITE STUFF!

Yes punning title, sorry, could not resist.  A friend of mine has just been to a place that I have been longing to go to for ages, the Kennedy Space Center.   I have always been interested in space travel both, fact and fiction, on the screen and in books, to the point of nerdiness.  A cracking read is Tom Wolf’s book, The Right Stuff.  It also made for a classic film.  Another friend appeared on a quiz show, the aim of the show was to find obscure answers to questions.  When my friend came back from the quiz she asked me “but who would know the names of obscure astronauts.”  To my nerdy shame, I rattled off a list, Gordon Cooper, one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts, the last American to go into space alone.  Jim Lovell Fred Haise, and Jack Swiggert the crew of Apollo 13.  Gus Grissom, second American in space, who died in the Apollo 1 launchpad fire.  I am not sure why I can hold obscure stuff like this in my head.  But I can.  I guess this harks back to a blog the other day about interests influencing what we write, and the fact that I have never considered a book about this.  But I would be happy to hear from you if you have had an interest like this, that you have used in your writing.

I would love to hear your thoughts, experiences, reflections, and stories.  Or any views you might like to share.  Here, the blogFacebook or twitter.
