IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LOVE.

IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LOVE. JAN 27, 2018

I know I have touched on this subject before, but music is a kind of key to our lives, so a couple of bits came to mind.  I heard an interview with the crime writer Ian Rankin, who claims his heavy rock music, as a tax-deductible expense as he can’t write without it playing.  I can paint and listen to music or talking books, but there is no way I could write with music going.   My own writing is done in a quiet room.  Any noise breaks my concentration.  So music is right out of the question.   So my first question is, tax issues aside, do you or any other writers you know, have the same need to listen to music while writing?  I would like to know how you separate the music from your words?

Second, love songs.  You most likely have one that’s your favorite that might not be on the list I have written down. What is your ultimate love song?  All of Me by John Legend, let’s Stay Together by Al Green, Have I Told You Lately by Rod Stewart, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, Could it be When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge, The Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion, Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars, Everything I Do by Bryan Adams, I’ll Stand By You by The Pretenders, You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker, Amazed by Lonestar.  Is there a song that just makes you go gooey?  Your’s and your partner’s tune?  And if so can you tell us why?  That is if you can say.

Have you read a book where music set the scene for you?  Or do you use songs in your novels to set a scene?

On a more general note, I would love to hear your views, thoughts, and stories you might like to share, on the blogFacebook or Twitter.
