CHRISTMAS MUSIC. TIMELESS? OR CHEESY?

Is it the same with your books, have you a favorite book to read at Christmas, an author you always read at this time of year?  Mine was always Terry Pratchett; I was always bought a Discworld book for Christmas.  For me, it is as festive as mulled wine.   Have you got a Favorite Christmas book?

I wrote the other day about listening to an old Phil Spector record while wrapping Christmas presents and got two very distinct reactions.  Some said that it was all a bit too cheesy and that I should amend my ways.  Others thought it was a good festive thing to do.  It was interesting to see it divide like that.

So what is your taste in music at Christmas?  Have you a favorite song?  And do you associate a time, task, or person with that music?  Is there a favorite activity?  A hug by the fireside?  A smooch by the Christmas tree to old romantic tunes?

What works for you?  All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey, or maybe Last Christmas by Wham!  Maybe a funny song?  The Goodies and their song, Make a Daft Noise for Christmas? Or even the timeless, Bing Crosby and White Christmas.   Maybe there is a record you loathe at Christmas?   Mine is Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, I really can’t stand it, but that is just me.

What are your songs for Christmas?

Christmas music.  Timeless? Or cheesy?  And does that really matter during the festive season?

As we are in the run-up to Christmas, I thought I’d mention our stocking fillers.  The offers are for Starla Kaye For the Love of Christmas.  A 2 for 1 deal, a collection of short Christmas stories, Cowboys in Charge and Holly’s Big Bad Santa.  The other offer is a buy 2 Get 1 Free from author Leslie McKelvey, her Accidental Encounters Trilogy the first time all three volumes have been sold together and is available from now until Christmas.

I would love to hear your views, thoughts, and stories you might like to share, on the blogfacebook or twitter.
