A NEW BOOK ON THE SHELF! YAY!

I am delighted to let you know that The Brute and I by Suzanne Smith. The e-book is available now.  In the next few days, I will be chatting with Suzanne.  For now, I want to give you a sample of our latest book. Chapter One I turned the brass knob quickly, the nauseating fist of fear hitting me hard in the belly as I looked up and saw Marco standing on the other side of the bedroom door. He stood eerily still, close to the center of the doorway, not moving a muscle and not saying a word. His beautiful brown...

WHAT TICKS YOUR BOXES?

What do you need from a man?  What boxes does he need to tick?  Clean, good looking, good sense of humor, nice manners, kind, thoughtful, romantic, nice ass?  And do you use this checklist for the characters in your stories? Why not share your tick list with us. For me, I have always been more into people's personalities than the purely physical attraction, yet it is a factor, right? I have to say I do like tall partners and good looks for sure, but the ability to make me laugh trumps all. A couple of quick follow-ups to the 4th...

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

I have a lot of American friends and colleagues.  A lot wish me a happy 4th of July.  It is a funny one as a Brit; it commemorates the war to separate from the UK, and as we didn’t win, it is not one we celebrate here. Lol.  But it was back in 1776, and I have never been one to bear a grudge.  July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades, and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues. How will you be celebrating the 4th of July this year?...

THE AGONY OF CHOICE.

It is a plot device I have seen used a lot where the hero or heroine has a profound choice to make. “Sliding Doors”, was a movie that had the life-changing decision of the heroine making it onto a subway train, two scenarios take place. In one, she gets on the train and comes home to find her boyfriend, in bed with another woman. In the second, she misses the train and arrives after the woman has left. In the first scenario, Helen dumps the boyfriend, finds a new man and gradually her life improves. In the second, she becomes...

HAPPY CANADA DAY! YAY!

I just wanted to give a shout out for Canada Day.  It is the national day of Canada and marks the anniversary in 1867, of the day the country’s three colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united.  They came together to form one single Dominion that was part of the British Empire and is now a member of the Commonwealth. The celebration is often referred to as Canada’s birthday and sees Canadians celebrate both at home and around the world. Others refer to the holiday as Dominion Day or by the French phrase Le Jour de la...

DRESSING UP FOR DATES? OR COMFORTABLE IN JEANS?

g

A friend of mine was going on a first date with what she hopes will be her new boyfriend. I was around at her place helping her to pick out clothes for the date. While we were looking through her closet, it was clear my ideas, and hers were very different.  It is hot here, so I had thought of a summer dress, she was thinking of jeans and a top.  If it had been me, I would have chosen a dress, but maybe I am old fashioned?  He seemed like a nice guy, and I would have dressed up. ...

Now that my husband is retired, we live in the desert southwest of the U....

THE FUN AND DANGER OF FLIRTING.

Flirting can be a lot of fun.  It is the elements of tease and denial.  I guess that is the most alluring aspect when flirting.  How far dare you go? What if you flirt too much and go over the edge? To begin with, flirting feels as it does at the start of a game of table tennis.  You slowly tap the ball back and forth, a question here, a cheeky answer in return.  The questions and answers slowly becoming more risque as the soft tennis match turns a little more vigorous, the questions a little more probing the replies...
