A lot of friends, relatives, and the writers I have worked with have served in the military. I know it is Memorial Day in the US tomorrow.
Not everyone in the service gets to go into a war zone area or receives the recognition they deserve. The important thing is all service play their part in the organization. Each and every man and woman that serves from the front-line fighting officers to medics, engineering personnel, or logistics to catering teams add to the success of the whole. Everyone in the service does a vital role. I consider myself lucky to know a few people that have been in the armed forces and very proud of my family members who have played their part.
Memorial Day always makes me think of one of our authors. I would like to share a memory of Leslie McKelvey, I only knew her very briefly, we worked together on the launch of her last book Final Kill. The was a warm and generous lady. I had Just joined BVS and was a bit nervous. She was so kind, we spent a long time chatting. She told me of her time in the military, working on aircraft carriers in the US Navy. I really miss her and all the books she should have written.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments here on the blog, the BVS Facebook page, or my Facebook page. We have a twitter page too, and we are always happy to follow people that follow us.
