Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was a couple destined for marriage. They did all the right things from the beginning of their relationship. After just one date they had their busy schedules out trying to figure out when they could see each other again. They made sure to keep the relationship to themselves with pretty much just the mutual friend that fixed them up in the know. According to Prince Harry, they fell in love with each other so quickly. It was like the stars were all lined up.
Taking a camping trip all alone early on, in the middle of nowhere, had pretty much sealed the deal. There the couple had plenty of time to get to know each other, to be with each other with no media storm around them. For about six months after that, they spent time doing ordinary things at home usually cooking meals together or watching television. Little by little, they let certain family members in on the relationship that had already grown into true love. Prince Harry highly recommends this courting rather than running from place to place on dates. You get to know the person you are dating that way. You are focused only on each other and not everything else going on around you.
The Prince personally designed Meghan’s ring and had the tiny stones that surrounded the larger stone in the center added from his mother, Princess Diane’s jewelry collection. He wanted his mom to be with them at that moment when he asked Meghan for her hand in marriage. He went down on one knee while they had been in the middle of grilling chicken. Prince Harry had said that he felt that Meghan and his mother would have been thick as thieves. And they both felt that his mom was with them on their wedding day.
I’m all about the chemistry between the happy couple during a wedding, so seeing all the guests arrive in the lovely outfits was fascinating to watch, but it wasn’t what I was looking forward to. It was all about that first moment that they laid eyes on each other in the chapel. Their first touch, the interaction between them during the Stand By Me song, sung by the Gospel Choir. And of course the vows, ring exchange, and the first kiss. None of which disappointed me. I could see the smile in Harry and Meghan’s eyes and the overwhelming love between them.
Megan’s mother had trouble holding back her tears of joy. When I saw her eyes, mine welled up with tears too. Not because I in any way knew the happy couple, but because I am a believer in true love and being able to find one’s soul mate. For me, it seemed that this couple had done just that.
The highlight of the event for me, was when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex rode off in the Ascot Landaus carriage, pulled by Windsor Grey horses, from the St. George’s Chapel to the Windsor Castle. It felt like they wanted to share their special day with everyone that gathered together in Windsor. Congratulations to the newly-married couple may they be as happy and as in love in fifty years as they are now.
