BOOK BLURBS, THE AGONY, AND THE ECSTASY! APRIL 5, 2018
I was chatting with an author last night, with me agreeing to help write the blurb for her forthcoming book. That conversation triggered a memory. It seems to me, that all the writers I know hate writing the back blurbs. I don’t know what it is about the blurb that makes them so tricky to write, it is only a synopsis after all. Though I know authors that hate writing those too. Maybe it is the idea of condensing your book down to a sellable essence? A teaser that entices a reader to say, yes! This is my next read.
The blurb itself is a crucial piece of marketing, the cover catches the eye but the blurb sells the book. Maybe it is knowing how important it is, that makes it so difficult to write? I would love to know your experience, how do you find writing the back blurb? Easy, or a hated chore?
I’d love to hear your comments here on the blog, the BVS Facebook page, or my Facebook page. We have a twitter page too and we are always happy to follow people that follow us.
