Something light for the start of the week. It is said that everyone has a book in them. It is something I believe. As for my own book, it is something I have thought of myself for a while. At some point, I will write about my art. I haven’t really got a catchy title for that yet. I have recently been working on a book about my time as the landlord of a UK pub restaurant. The title I have for that book is, “30 Years Behind Bars.” I have managed to combine a lot of different jobs at the same time and hopefully will manage to combine them for a while longer. But what about you? What title would you give to the book about you? Would it be a serious title? Or a funny one? The title is the first and best hook. A good story can fail for want of a good title. One of my stories did.
I will be honest, I ran out of steam with this blog at this point. It seemed like a good idea, and I hope this first part will get some reactions because I think it is an interesting topic. But I took the last thought of bad titles and googled it. I sware to god, these titles came up. They gave me a laugh so I thought I’d share.
“The Missionary Position, Mother Teresa In Theory and Practice” Christopher Hitchens, “Eating People is Wrong” Malcolm Bradbury, “Games You Can Play With Your Pussy and Lots of other stuff cat owners should know” not attributed to the author on the cover. Can’t imagine why. Other notable adult titles I found were, “How To Succeed In Business Without A Penis,” “The Beginners Guide to Sex In The Afterlife.” and “How To Shit In The Woods.”
There were a couple of kids books that I have to mention, please bear in mind these are kids books. “Goodbye, Testicles,” “30 Ways to Dump a Sister,” “Little Bobby’s Drunk Again,” “Whitey Can’t Dance Worth a Shit,” and the unforgettable, “The Magical World Of Rectal Probes.”
