Do you find writing stressful? Or is it something you do to relieve stress?
I am very interested in the writing process and what drives us to write. I talked about writer’s block a while back, and that can be a problem. Deadlines. I remember a quote from Douglas Adams “I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.” If you are up against a hard deadline and you have to get something out, what do you do? My approach when writing nonfiction is to think of a topic, obviously, it depends on what you are working on. Then google it and see if you can find inspiration for the topic you have considered. For fiction, I take the Stephen King method and go back over the previous chapter and start revising the old text. I find once I start the creative process, I feel that I am in a better position to start writing new text. Very happy to hear from writers on how they deal with the subjects of deadlines and writer’s block.
The writing process, is it stressful, but something you are compelled to do anyway? Or is it simply a joy that takes you into a different world? Or maybe as it is for me, it is a subtle blend of the two?
I love writing I love the way that writing things down explore my creative side in a way that nothing else does. It is also a very satisfying way of venting your spleen.
The question remains why do you write? I would like to hear your views and thoughts, tips or help you might like to share. Here, the blog, Facebook or Twitter.
