Valentine’s Day is upon us again. What significance does this day still have for you?
I was out shopping the other day and could not fail to see the enormous commercialism of this day. I can see where in card shops, florists, lingerie shops and confectionery outlets it is one of the big events of the year. The part that rather surprised me was the other shops, such as charity shops, estate agents, butchers, jumping on the bandwagon. The sync in me thinks it is all a bit of a guilt trip designed to play on your insecurities. If you haven’t spent $20 on a card $80 on red roses and $20 on chocolates, you can’t love them enough? Right? Surely it is more about love than it is about things? That said I am a bit of a romantic and I buy into the whole roses and cards thing which makes me either a hopeless romantic, gullible or maybe a bit of both.
The lingerie aspect of Valentine’s is interesting is the gift of lingerie for her or for him? Maybe it is both? And together with the fluffy handcuffs maybe it is as good a way of celebrating your love with your partner.
