CHICK MAGNET CAR! IMPRESSED?

Are you impressed with a so-called “Chick Magnet Car?” I would love to hear your views on this.  I was listening to two young men in a coffee shop the other day, talking about the vehicles they wanted, cars that were guaranteed to get them laid.  I am not sure how typical I am as a woman, I like a nice car, I had a Mazda MX5 convertible for a while. So I get the style aspect of motors. I never thought of it as a way of attracting a partner. Men seem to think of it differently, I invite...

TO BE IN LOVE, OR TO LOVE SOMEONE?

As romance writers looking at the subject of love is something of a preoccupation.  There are many types of love, of course, some of which are deeper than others. What has been on my mind over the weekend is the difference between being in love and loving someone. Falling in love and being in love, I see as the bright burning passion, that consumes you at the start of a relationship.  The intense feeling that you need them, want them now! Want to call and e-mail them when you are not together, and when you are together you can’t keep...

CAN YOUR MIND BE TOO CREATIVE?

I was chatting with a writer friend last night at my local bar. The theme of our conversation was the new story plots.  It was clear we had dozens of great story concepts between us.  The problem was we had more ideas than we had time to write them. In a way, it is the total reverse to writer’s block, but when it happens, it is equally frustrating.  My mind buzzes with what I regard as, “good plotlines.” I would love to make the time, but there are only so many hours in the day and only so much creative...

WRITING A GOOD SEX SCENE.

I may have irritated or upset some male authors with Monday’s blog, that was not my intention.  If I did please accept my apologies.  I was simply expressing my views about some male writers.  Some men write great sex scenes as I did say in my original blog.  I took a couple of days off to think about what I had said and with the support of the boss Ric, this was the intended follow up to the Monday blog. I would like to share my thoughts on what I believe makes a good sex scene.  This follows the comments...

CAN MEN WRITE GOOD SEX SCENES?

f

After reading script's all weekend, I have to ask the question why don’t men write good sex scenes?  This is a massive generalization, and I would like to say sorry to all the male authors out there who do write really good sex scenes. As I said I have been reading scripts all weekend, three written by men and all three stories had the most appallingly written sex scenes. Women also write pretty bad sex scenes, but on the whole, men seem to be more consistently guilty of cringe-worthy prose. I once chatted with the editor of the Erotic Review,...

THE TOP TEN SEXIEST JOB.

Just what are the top ten sexiest jobs?  I read an article the other day that just grabbed my interest.  Working in the publishing business the jobs of the male characters do feature strongly in the plot. The career certainly defines the character in the story. Certain careers can make men seem more attractive. Here are some of the sexiest jobs in my opinion and not in any particular order. Doctor This one comes up again and again in stories.  It is no coincidence that the popularity of shows like ER and Grey’s Anatomy do so well.  For me, I like the idea of...

HOT! OR TACKY AND SEXIEST?

I was watching a Gerard Butler movie the other day The Ugly Truth; it is very funny, I highly recommend it. The premise, in a nutshell, it is a comedy that looks at how men and women look at sex and relationships. And it deals with the subject of social manipulation, with the object of getting each other into bed.  There is a scene at a basketball game where it is suggested to the heroine that eating a hot dog in a suggestive way would be a turn on for the man.  Having watched that movie, I began to notice...

A BIG WEEK FOR NEW BOOKS!

It has been a tricky week, so many new books out, and I do not want to tread on anyone’s toes. I have been talking about Suzanne Smiths Blog tour.  Today I want to talk about Home by Keren Hughes.  The release date is 30th September and is available to pre-order now!  I love Keren’s stories.  I thought Safe was a great read, and her new book Home is a great follow up story, in the Jagged Scars Duet series.  I love the way Karen weaves in a tapestry of music and other contemporary details into her stories. It makes for a much deeper and...
