Black Velvet Seductions have published a great many western romance novels, and I was wondering just why are they so popular. I love them, and the appeal for me is that rugged frontier feel. A time when men were the strong and brooding types, an altogether rougher period in history, seeing men, as both the villains and the protectors.
Especially in this pressured world of technology and deadlines, I think there is a part of us that craves a simpler life. I was watching the HBO series Westworld, and I think that feeds into that desire to go back to that period in time. I am a bit of a sci-fi geek too, and I loved reading the original Michael Crichton book and watching the Yul Brynner film of Westworld. I think Brynner is such an imposing character in that movie. I have to say for a while I had a bit of a crush on him. He has fueled quite a few of my fantasies and has inspired one of my stories.
