I read an article the other day that prompted this thought. This is the article, click here to see it. I then chatted with some friends to see what they thought of this as an idea. Is success just a matter of putting in the hours? There is certainly something to be said for the time of day when you do work. I love early mornings or late nights. One reason is that tends to be uninterrupted time, no phone called breaking up the rhythm of work. I find that there is something lovely about the flexibility of setting your own hours.
I go to bed and come up with an idea I am likely to get up and work on that idea; explore it while it is fresh in my mind. Then if I sleep late or have a nap in the afternoon, the time is mine to use as I please. I love that about this job. I have tasks I need to do, yet I have the freedom to do the work when I wish, within reason. The boss is great, Ric doesn’t get stressed as long as the work gets done.
So what about you? Reading time? Writing time? Can you suit yourself? Have you also found the extra productive time working later in the evening? A good friend said to me once, “It is not the hours you work, it is the work you get done in the hours that counts.” I truly believe that, and I can be more productive when I am not being interrupted. I consider it a golden time.
