DOES MY BUM LOOK BIG WHEN WEARING THING OUTFIT?

It has been a glorious day here in my part of the UK. I’d been sitting in my favorite cafe typing, well also watching the world go by. Secretly, I was eyeing up a couple of hunky builders, while drinking my latte. Even though I was not trying to attract either man, I was still thinking that I wish I had worn something nicer. And that led to me thinking about body image. And do we really look as we think we do? Or maybe it should be, how we wish we looked vs. how we actually look.

There is a Robert Burns poem with a line, on the subject of seeing ourselves as others see us. “O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.”

There were a couple of scenes in the Keren Hughes book, Safe that I re-read the other day that tackles a lot of these problems. How we look at how we see ourselves. It also made me think about the levels of effort we go to when we go on a date. Have you addressed these issues of body image in a story? Or have you read a story that resonated with you on the subject of body image? I would love to hear your thoughts.
