Keren Hughes is a new author to BVS. I really enjoyed reading her first book with us Safe. She is not afraid to tackle tricky subjects that usually lay outside of romance. The subject of disability is one that caught me. Keren tackles it with great sensitivity, but also in a matter of fact kind of way. It is very much a part of the character, without it being contrived in any way. Also in this story, it shows a mother’s love for her child, putting that before herself and her wants and needs. A really moving story. Her book is available to pre-order now, with a release date at the end of this month.
Just a quickie on the subject of disability, while I am on the subject, I wrote a book on positive body image a while back Beauty in Every Form. While working on the book I came in close contact with a couple of disability charities. It is always important to see beyond the disability to the person. We are all entitled to our share of life, love, and beauty, no matter how life has shaped us.
