Interesting book terms.

Amanda's BVS Book BLOG

Interesting book terms have been on my mind.  I came across a few and discovered what I considered the meaning of a term was not universally accepted.  For example; here is a seemingly simple phrase that can mean different things to a group of authors.  When would you consider a book to be launched?

Is it the moment you upload your file to Amazon’s KDP?  Or is it when your book is first available for pre-order? Is it on the day of publication? Out there, on sale to a reader?

This is my view, I work as a part of the BVS production team, working to “launch” a book months before it was even available.  For me, a book launch is the moment in time when you start actually trying to get people to buy your book.

If you upload your book to Amazon but then never tell anyone, you haven’t launched a book. However, if you start trying to get people to pre-order your book a month before it comes out, you’re running a book launch.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments here on the blog, the BVS Facebook page, or my Facebook page. We have a twitter page too, and we are always happy to follow people that follow us.

Hi Amanda, for me the book launch is when the book goes on pre sale on Amazon and I advertise it to get people to order it. But you’re right the build up starts sometime before that, with the announcement of the publication date, the cover reveal, etc.

Hi Alice, I agree with you, the second the link is out, it is time to get it out there. I see it as the whole process too. Thank you for popping by and making a comment it is good of you.
