Anthony
ANTHONY
A RISKING LOVE NOVEL BOOK 4
CALLIE CARMEN
Tessa seemed to have it all; her father’s fortune, men falling at her feet, and a fairly new but successful business. Secretly, all she longed for was her mother’s hug once more, her heartbroken widowed father acknowledging her existence, and the love of Tony.
Recently divorced, from a selfish, demanding ex-wife, Tony Telesco wanted nothing to do with a rich, spoilt, daddy’s girl like Tessa. Would she be able to convince him she was not as she seemed?
Anthony is the fourth novel in the Risking Love series. The stories chart a group of friends through life and love. These steamy stories will have you laughing, crying, and have your heart racing.
Alice –
An erotic romance with true heart! The Risking Love series follows a group of young women as one by one they find true love. Tessa was always my favourite because she’s a bad girl gone good – in a previous book, Nicolas, she does her best to seduce her friend’s man! But in Anthony she has left her flirty ways behind and fallen hard and fast for handsome, brooding restaurant owner Tony. But Tony has been burned by a failed marriage and is unwilling to risk his heart again, while Tessa is still wrestling with the loss of her mum and a prickly relationship with her dad. Those two make the pages sizzle as in spite of their doubts they just can’t keep their hands (and the rest of their anatomies) off each other. They’re great together… when they’re together and there’s the rub. Tessa has to work hard to get Tony to open up and own up to his feelings. The happy ending when it comes is tender and believable. Passion and heart, a winning combination!
Virginia Wallace –
It is a romance-novel cliché that that the hero must be a man of leisure, independently wealthy with a ton of time of his hands. It’s also a cliché that the heroine often begins as a ‘good girl’, and slowly becomes ‘bad’ as the story moves forward. Such tales are nearly always narrated exclusively from the heroine’s point of view.
Callie Carmen’s ‘Anthony’ turns all of those clichés onto their heads.
Anthony… is a chef. Successful, yes, but still a blue-collar fellow whose personality is firmly rooted in reality. He views the lovely Tessa as a spoiled ‘rich girl’, someone not to be trusted. In order to secure Anthony’s love, Tessa must change his perception of her.
The narrative of ‘Anthony’ rotates between Tessa and Anthony’s respective points of view, fleshing out the tale from both sides in order to tell a complete, balanced story. The genius of Callie Carmen’s writing is that it’s lush and descriptive without feeling surreal; one almost gets the impression that Anthony and Tessa are real people, that this story is actually happening.
‘Anthony’ can be read as a stand-alone novel, or as part of Callie Carmen’s ‘Risking Love’ series. (If ‘Anthony’ is any indication… it’s one hell of a series.) So check it out!
