I thought it time to share my own list of books I’ve read recently, particularly since they are written on an assortment of scraps of paper scattered around my desk, and the cats keep knocking them off. :-)

I’ve been reading a lot of books on selling ebooks. I’d recommend all of these for authors trying to sell more copies of the books they write. There is a lot of overlap but there is at least one piece of useful information in each book that isn’t in the others…so I’d suggest reading them all. :-) I suppose that I should also point out that I don’t agree with every piece of information in every book. I think you have to take what works for you, what makes sense to you, and use that and perhaps leave the rest.

How To Really Sell Ebooks – 35 pages – by Jon F Merz

Social Media Marketing For Writers – 138 pages – by Edie Melson

The First Ten Steps – 36 pages – by M.R. Mathias

How I Sold 1 Million Ebooks In 5 Months – 168 pages – by John Locke

I’ve also read my share of fiction…a lot of erotic romance and some domestic discipline and a sweeter romance or two. Here’s my list:

Domestic Discipline Holiday Stories – 126 pages – by Sebrina Winchester

I enjoyed this ebook which included a collection of holiday stories…each story set around a different holiday. I enjoyed the variety of stories, the variety of settings. I would recommend this ebook to those who enjoy romantic domestic discipline stories in a vein similar to those we sell here at BVS.

Make Me, Sir – BDSM Romance – 314 pages – by Cherise Sinclair

Cherise Sinclair is one of my favorite BDSM romance authors and this book didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the suspense and mystery that was part of this story. I also enjoyed seeing some of the characters from some of the earlier Master of the Shadowlands stories.  Here’s the cover blurb for this one:

Her job is to make his life miserable. His job is to make her submit. Whose heart will surrender first?

Across the country, rebellious BDSM submissives are being systematically kidnapped, one from each club. When her friend falls prey to the slavers, FBI victim specialist Gabrielle volunteers to be bait in a club not yet hit: the Shadowlands.

She finds that being a bratty sub comes naturally, especially when she gets to twit the appallingly conservative Master of the trainees. But she soon discovers he’s not as stuffy as she’d thought. Or as mean. She’d expected punishment, even humiliation, but she sure never expected to fall in love with a damned lawyer.

Courtesy of a prima donna ex-wife, Marcus loathes disobedient submissives. When the club owner insists he admit an incredibly bratty trainee, he’s furious. But as he comes to know Gabrielle and sees the alluring sweetness beneath the sass, he starts to fall for her.

Unfortunately, Marcus isn’t the only one who believes the feisty redhead is a prize worth capturing. And in the world of the slaver, such treasure is worth a hefty fee.

I would definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy romantic BDSM stories.

One Final Attempt – 40 pages – by Emma Hillman

Book description from Amazon:

Simon said some really hurtful things to his wife, and now she won’t forgive him. She’s even asking for a divorce. A divorce! She won’t talk to him, so he can’t even apologize properly. So, what’s a husband to do?

Reese wakes up the next day to find herself handcuffed to the bed. She has no choice but to listen to him.

Intent on proving to her that he really does love her and her curves, Simon pulls out all the stops. But will it be enough to capture his wife’s heart yet again?

Dear Sir, I’m Yours – 256 pages – by Joely Sue Burkhart

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to those who like BDSM romance.  Here’s the description from Amazon:

This professor’s final exam includes a spanking.

There’s no house restoration too challenging for Rae Jackson, a.k.a. “The Fix-It Lady”. There’s no fixing the past, though. Like the day she left college. A semester of flirting with her English professor ended when he spanked her to the best orgasm of her life. Afraid of her own eager willingness to comply with the sexy dom’s commands—no matter what—she fled.

Yet not even five years can dim her memory of his masterful touch.

Conn never forgot the one student who gave him a big fat “F” on the greatest test of his life. After all these years, he’s still haunted by his uncharacteristic loss of control. When he finds the very object of his shame—and desire—crawling around under his grandmother’s house, he swears to do anything to win Rae’s trust.

Rae finds herself helpless against Conn’s slow seduction. Exactly the way she likes it. Instead of poetry, this time she learns the erotic pleasure to be found in bondage…and submission to the sexiest professor alive.

A pirate’s Revenge – 100 pages – Rebecca Jacobs

Here’s the Amazon Description:

When Opal’s mother confesses on her deathbed that the notorious pirate Jack Marsh is Opal’s father, the beautiful, but impulsive, young girl is determined to hide on board his ship and wait until he is far at sea to make him acknowledge her. Her plans go awry when she picks the wrong ship to stowaway upon, and instead of her father, she finds that handsome Captain Boone McCrae is the master of The Lady Bess!

Boone wants the raven haired beauty in his bed. He does not believe for one instant she is the innocent she claims to be, given her passionate response to his touch, but for some reason he cannot define, the pirate captain feels compelled to return her to her village so that she can find her father. Until he learns Opal’s father is none other than his arch enemy, Jack Marsh. He decides then to use her to settle an old score with his nemesis.

Opal is shocked at the depth of Boone’s hatred for her father, and cannot believe he plans to treat her cruelly to take revenge on a man she has never met. Even worse are the feelings she develops for her lusty pirate in spite of the fact he takes her over his knee and spanks her bared bottom at every opportunity!

Bound For The Holidays (Ties That Bind Book 1) – 160 pages – MacKenzie McKade

The description from Amazon:

An invitation too hot to pass up…Angela Clarke finds herself bound for the holidays, literally. Not by one, but two gorgeous men — a powerful executive and one sexy cowboy.

Angie expected to spend Christmas alone, not in the arms of her new boss after the office party. Their attraction is hot enough to melt ice, and his wicked promises alluring. What he’s offering she has only fantasized about.

To her surprise, the night not only involves silk scarves and a set of handcuffs, but one tall dark cowboy.

Ryan Tyler has never thought twice about sharing his women with his best friend — until Ryan touches Angie. She stirs something deep inside him. But it’s too late to stop the decadent night from unfolding. What starts as hot sex with a warm, willing woman turns into something more. After tonight, Ryan knows he’ll never be satisfied with just one taste.

Could his fantasy lead to something lasting, or will it only be one night of pleasure?

Lean On Me – 307 pages – Cherise Sinclair

I’d definitely recommend this book to those who like BDSM romance. Each of Cherise’s books is an individual. Each set of characters acts and reacts based on their own backstories and motivations. This book was no exception.

Here’s the description from Amazon:

Andrea wants to submit, but not to just any so-called Dom. He has to be tougher than the slum-bred bullies she grew up with. She’d given up finding a true Dom when her friend finagles her a place as a trainee in an exclusive BDSM club with the powerful Shadowlands Masters. Andrea’s thrilled…and terrified.

Forced to accept an unknown submissive into his carefully run trainee program, Master Cullen is furious. Not only is the young woman new to BDSM, but she’s unsuited to her role–armoured in leather like a Domme, she’s more liable to punch a Dom than kneel. He decides to push her right back out the door. But as he ruthlessly intimidates her, punishes her, then comforts her, his glimpses of the woman inside the emotional armour intrigue him and her utter surrender captures his heart.
Although Master Cullen is famous for his unfettered lifestyle, Andrea believes he might be interested in her, until she discovers he’s not just a bartender–he’s a cop. Maybe he’d overlook her past brush with the law, but when another trainee accuses her of stealing money, Andrea’s sure she’s lost the Master she wanted with all her heart.

Ariel’s Pet – erotic romance – dominance and submission – 292 pages – Quillia Rain

Description from Amazon:

‘slaving’ is just what she intends to teach her blond-haired, blue-eyed, oh so yummy surfer boy. He might be helping at the family café as a favor to her sister, but there was no way she was giving him an opportunity to play Dom with her.

For Dane Reese, Ariel Valerian is a full-figured pixie — a life-size, blue-haired Tinkerbell in a chef’s coat surrounded by the scent of chocolate and cinnamon and an aura of mind-blowing, sweaty sex. Too bad she’s driving him insane with her determination to order him around. As a Dominant and half-owner of A Master’s Gift, Dane has seen his share of Dommes and submissives, and, no matter how she might deny it, Ariel is destined to call him Master.

Two powerful personalities; a contest to determine who is more adept at control; and less than thirty days to discover if Ariel will bow to Dane’s commands, or if Dane will become Ariel’s Pet.

Seventh Heaven – Romance – 384 pages – Catherine Anderson

Catherine Anderson is one of my favorite authors. I’ve enjoyed both her contemporary and historical romances. This one definitely didn’t disappoint. I would recommend it to those who enjoy sweet romance.

Here’s the description from Amazon:

Ten years ago Joe Lakota had left behind his small Oregon town and the only woman he’d ever truly loved for the empty promises of the big city. Now he’s returned, seeking to raise his young son with values you can only find at home, and longing to rekindle the passion he’d once had with beautiful Marilee Nelson. But Marilee isn’t anything like the gentle yet self-assured girl he’d left behind. In her place is a woman tormented by a secret she refuses to share, even with Joe.

Marilee never wanted to see Joe again; their parting had been too painful. And though his strong arms and powerful body could protect her, she knew only too well the harm they could also bring. Her head tells her to resist Joe’s persistent advances, her heart is telling her something very different. And then he makes her the sweetest proposition of all: become his wife and mother of his child. But how can she agree to a marriage, even in name only, when she can’t stand to tell him the truth?

Cherise is on my auto buy list too…along with Sarah McCarty and Catherine Anderson. Let us know what you think of Doms of Dark Haven Two. I know I have Doms of Dark Haven one in my TBR pile. I don’t think I have the second book…I’ll have to go shopping at Amazon. :-)

There are a lot of books out now about how to sell books and ebooks. There have always been a lot of books on the subject but many of them in the past dealt with paper books and things like book-signings that only work for physical paper books. Ebooks and genre books (as opposed to non-fiction books) are different.
