The Winner In Last Week’s Book Recommendation Game Is….

First let me say that I was blown away by the number of book recommendations put forth in the book recommendations game that I announced last week. I believe the contest (the recommendations put forth by everyone who played) will be a great resource for all of us. I am EXCITED about all of the recommendations and gradually picking my way through them.

I am in the process of putting all of the recommendations together in a spreadsheet so that I can cull out the duplicates and create some order out of the chaos that happens when slightly more than half a dozen people are all recommending their favorite books via simple lists.

Once I have all of the recommendations in the spreadsheet I will massage the contents a bit and put together a file (Probably a PDF) that everyone will be able to download and use to find new authors. I would like for us to update the list periodically…so that the list continues to grow and evolve as each of us discover new favorite authors and put them forward for everyone to enjoy. To that end we’ll probably be doing a periodic contest to add NEW discoveries of books and authors to the list. This will give people who weren’t able to participate this time a chance to participate and will allow us all to get to know the work of some of the newer authors who are just coming onto the scene.

About half a dozen people played, sending in lists of a few or a lot of book recommendations. As I’ve said previously, there are no losers in this contest as everyone will benefit from the combined list of book recommendations that have been gathered.

Look for a link to the book recommendations list a bit later this weekend…and be sure to tell your friends to come and download their copy. It’s a great resource as there is a huge variety of books recommended…some well known authors, some not so well known.
