If you’re visiting us for the first time for the Romancing The Blog Hop welcome! Please pull up a chair, kick off your shoes, grab something to drink and chat a spell. Here on the blog we love to talk about books…mostly romance books. In honor of the hop I’m also giving away a $25 Amazon gift card to one lucky winner. Entry has two simple parts. You do not have to like me on Facebook…or friend me on Twitter…or tweet anything to your followers…though if you want to do those things that would be fine. ;)

To enter the contest:

Part 1: Answer one (or more) of the questions below or join the conversation by responding to someone else’s comment in the comments section. EACH comment is good for one entry into the drawing so if you answer each question that will give your four entries. If you come back and respond to comments left by other people that will give you even more entries. :) Conversation is fun!

  • What is it that draws you to the romance genre?
  • What is your favorite sub-genre and why?
  • Who is your favorite romance author and why?
  • What is the last book you read – would you recommend it – to which readers?

Part 2:

Somewhere in your comment or response mention something you saw on this blog besides this post. You don’t need the link…you can be general…something like I enjoyed the post from guest author xxx on alpha heroes (note there is no guest author xxx-so don’t copy this).

You do not need to leave your email within your comment, though you do need to fill it in within the form that you use to type your comment. I will be using the email in the form to send out the $25 Amazon gift card, so be sure you leave the email address you’d want a gift card sent to.

That’s it – simple and fun – right?

My answers to the questions are in the comments section…you can respond or leave a comment of your own to enter the contest.

When you’ve finished enjoying this blog be sure to bookmark us so you can find your way back. Then check out the 200 other blogs and enter their contests by visiting Romancing The Blog Hop and clicking on each participating blog.

There are some great GRAND prizes being given away through this hop too. They include:

  • 1st Grand Prize: A Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet (The Kindle Fire is VERY cool – I have one and do a good share of my reading on it – the rest I do on my Android phone).
  • 2nd Grand Prize: A $130 Amazon or B&N Gift Card
  • 3rd Grand Prize: A Large Swag Pack

Have fun hopping!

#4 What is the last book you read – would you recommend it – to which readers?

Seduced in Darkness by CJ Roberts.

I absolutely loved it and would definetly recommed it, You would have to read the first one called Captive in the Dark first though. Both are great.

This would be for people who are into BDSM.

  • Lona Stringer says:

#1 What is it that draws you to the romance genre?

#4: I read This Tangled Thing Called Love on my Kindle this holiday weekend. It’s by Marie Astor. I recommend it highly! It’s a great fun end-of-summer contemporary read. It’s a GREAT beach read.

  • Catherine says:

#3: My favorite romance author(s)…Stephen King? Are you laughing yet? I loved Lisey’s Story and I thought that 11/22/63 was, at its heart, a love story between Sadie and Jake. And since Sadie is a librarian, I definitely felt a kinship towards it. SO, give Stephen King another read!

  • Catherine says:

#2: My favorite sub-genre is contemporary. It’s most relatable to me…most identifiable. As a librarian, I appreciate the research that goes into so many historical romances, but I still favor contemporarys.

  • Catherine says:

    1. What is it that draws me to romance? The fact that it is so UNLIKE any reality that I know! LOL. It’s the fantasy of it all.

I’ve been to your blog before and I like the conversations. In August you had a conversation about “Where you buy your books…and why.” As a librarian, I thought that was very interesting.

Wow, I’m so glad I stopped by to wave hello! It’s fun to see what everyone has written about favorite books and authors. I read a book recently by Misty Crews called Still Waters. It’s one of the best books I’ve read in years. Set in the 1950′s, it explores two families with secrets that bind them together. It starts with a photo of the heroine’s husband standing with a Black woman and a baby. Tolerance was one thing and acceptance was another. But the questions that swirled through the heroine’s head weren’t going to be answered any time soon. Drawn into the characters and their stories tumbles the reader deeper into their lives. Misty Crews is an indie author and it was well written. Worth reading! If you like Mainstream and you like Romance, you’ll love it.

I love a good historical romance and I love a good contemporary romance. There’s nothing worse than reading a book and getting to the end without a HEA. Have you ever read one and tossed it across the room because it didn’t end happily? Hate that! At least, with a romance you’ll know that you’ll reach the HEA.

A romantic whodunit that isn’t grizzly is always a favorite. I don’t have time to waste on a book that isn’t to my taste. If I don’t like something, I’ll stop reading. I want a book to make me forget about my daily life. I want to read it and feel good when I’m done.

It’s been fun seeing all the names from chat who have commented. Which brings me to my good news. I’ll be back to chatting since I just quit my day job. No more working on Friday nights! I am now officially a full time author.
    E.

  • Sherry S. says:

I love the HEA of romance books.
My favorite sub-genre is paranormal romance (shifter).
I love Lora Leigh’s books because her me are so alpha and her stories are always great.
If you love a good romantic suspense The Prey by Linda Howard is great.

  • Tracey D says:

What is it that draws you to the romance genre? I love the chase and the HEA.
What is your favorite sub-genre and why? I don’t have one favorite but I do love paranormal, fantasy, urban fantasy, and m/m romances. All are love stories, just in a different form.
Who is your favorite romance author and why? Again, I don’t have one favorite but I do love to read the works by Amy Lane, Tara Lain, and Diana Gabaldon.
What is the last book you read – would you recommend it – to which readers? I am currently reading Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione and it is great.

I enjoyed the Starla Kaye post. It was a great read and I added several books to my wish list.

    Thanks,

What is the last book you read – would you recommend it – to which readers?

The last book I read was That Wedding by Jillian Dodd. I would recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of romance, particularly YA romance because it’s not that graphic, haha. It’s a sweet story though. :)

  • Crystal Craig says:

Who is your favorite romance author and why?

I really don’t like to pick favorites, haha, but I’ll just pick the most recent author I’ve come across and just love their books. I would have to say Jillian Dodd is my favorite author right now. :) I love the way she tells a story and I love how her characters are developed! You feel as if you know them so well.

  • Crystal Craig says:

What is your favorite sub-genre and why?

My favorite sub-genre would probably have to be paranormal. I love there being a twist of werewolves, vampires, shifters, and any other kind of creatures you associate paranormal with. It’s awesome to see a WHOLE new world being described and it’s amazing to see how a paranormal being falls in love and how they pursue their love interest. :)

    craigcrystal(at)ymail(dot)com

  • Crystal Craig says:

What is it that draws you to the romance genre?

The happily ever afters and the journey the hero and heroine have to take before realizing that they are meant for each other or the journey they take in order to be together. :)

  • Qwillia says:

LOL, loved the little bit of info on Mysti Holliday and her book Sugar Walls.
Favorite subgenre of romance is erotic romance and there are way too many authors I read to name just one.
For me, romance is all about the trust and respect built between the characters. Since I write BDSM, these elements are very important.

  • Romance books mean everything to me! I’ve always loved to read! I was a quiet child – a loner – who found solace, friendship, and adventure in my books. When a classmate loaned me my first romance novel, “The Flame and The Flower” by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss…I then found love and hope for my own HEA which I didn’t think was possible considering I made nerds and geeks look uber cool. lol Even today, as a grown woman, when most men’s idea of romance and foreplay is to ask,”Why aren’t you naked yet?” – I can always rely on a good romance book to give me hope that maybe one day…a frog may very well turn into a prince. The last book I read was “Nerds Are Freaks Too” by Koko Brown and she’s fast becoming a favorite author of mine in the contemporary erotica genre! My favorite subgenre in romance would have to be…uuuggh! It’s so hard to choose one! I would have to say I really enjoy reading historical romances featuring highlanders and knights. Now I’m not sure if urban fantasy would qualify as a subgenre in the romance category but if it did than this would definitely be a first followed by the historical romance. So hard to choose just one. *le sigh
