Hello Everyone!

Please welcome Margie Church back to the blog. She’s here today to talk about her new novel Krewe Daddy and coming attraction Razor.

Thanks for welcoming me back, Black Velvet fans.

Today I have two books I want to share. The first is my new m/m erotic suspense Krewe Daddy – the love story between Drew and Luis!

What’s their story?

Luis and Drew had a nasty breakup six years ago. They were both at fault. Egos, immaturity, and misunderstandings forced them apart and silence filled the void for six long years. Drew ran off to Minnesota, and Luis continued his career.

Krewe Daddy’s story begins six years later.

Their first meeting in a gay bar is gruff and awkward. Neither knew the other was going to be there, let alone living in the same city. Luis acts like a total ass. Drew is rocked to the core with a flood of emotions he didn’t expect. And the City of New Orleans suddenly feels confining.

And so begins their journey to figuring out how to do rectify their relationship, put the past where it belongs, and learn how to create new history. I think the most dramatic changes come from Drew, who’s learned not to be a doormat on the street or in a relationship. He mans up to his previous mistakes with no conditions or excuses. Luis tests Drew’s commitment and challenges him many times to believe he’s telling the truth.

By the time Drew finally “gets it,” his life takes a drastic turn. Luis enlists help from everyone he thinks of and turns his life upside down for the man he loves.

Krewe Daddy is a story of redemption. Of love lost and found. It’ll make you chuckle, cringe, cheer, and cry.

Luis is the Daddy, a sought-after lover, with an ego to match the mammoth-sized Mardi Gras floats he designs. His lifestyle and reputation are wearing him out, but Luis can’t find a satisfying way to break the cycle and be happy, too.

Drew’s insecurities pushed him to have a foolish affair six years ago. It destroyed his relationship with Luis, and he’s never been able to commit to anyone since. Now, he’s taken control of his life and changed his submissive personality by becoming a model for Kevin Marks, and a wildlife enforcement agent in New Orleans.

These men haven’t forgotten each other, or settled their differences. When they accidentally meet in a French Quarter gay bar, the years of regret, anger, and pent-up emotions erupt. Their passion is as hot as ever, their mistrust just as potent. When Drew’s future is in Luis’ hands, will he choose his lifestyle or love?

Featuring Kevin, Teak, and Drew from Hard as Teak.

The second book I want to share is Razor, a story I’m co-authoring with K.B. Cutter. The first portion came out in a recent anthology, entitled Bound for Love, Ties that Bind. (Novice BDSM reader should be aware tis anthology is very kinky.)

We are expanding the short story in the anthology submission into a full novel. What’s it about?

Razor challenges the conventional relationship of a married couple, and tests the true meaning of love. The story has a host of kinks for all of you BDSM fans, but nothing extreme. Share the fascinating psychological and emotional journey as Bryce explores whether he can become a switch for the woman he loves. Also find out how his wife, Amy, copes with bringing her best friend, Raine, into their marriage bed. Can Bryce keep an emotional distance from Raine and still do what his wife asks? And what about Raine, dearest friend to Amy and now mentor to Bryce? How does she handle this intimate change in their relationship?

Each character sets out with expectations, but as the story unravels, readers will discover shifts in motivations and revelations that’ll make you hunger for more of the cutting tale, Razor.

Amy and Bryce don’t live the Dominant/submissive lifestyle, but Bryce acts every bit the Dom in the bedroom. And Amy’s had enough of it. She takes a drastic step to balance their intimate relationship by enlisting her best friend’s help.

His wife’s unconventional request shocks Bryce at first, but eventually he’s convinced to give the idea a try. On this journey of self-awareness, his experiences are anything but predictable or vanilla.

Buy Bound for Love, which includes RAZOR on Amazon.

CONTEST: These are two very different books! Tell me which story intrigues you most and why. The most interesting response wins a copy of Krewe Daddy or Ties that Bind – reader choice.

Both books sound really good. Krewe Daddy is going on my to buy list right now. I love reading m/m stories and this sounds like it’s got a lot going on in it.

  • Cindy Bartolotta says:

Hi Margie. The book I’d most like to win is Krewe Daddy because I already have Bound for Love. To anyone that hasn’t read it, run over to Amazon and snatch it up. It’s a great read, especially Razor. *shameless plug for Razor*
I am looking forward to reading Krewe Daddy. Like Laurie’s comment above, my preference is M/F, but I read everything. I like the premise for the story. I think everyone has made a bad decision at one time or another and wish they could go back and change it. This book offers that chance. Will the right decision be made this time?? I want to know!!

    • Hi Cindy! Thank you for buying Bound For Love! Razor is a cool story.

Krewe Daddy has new elements I’ve never written such as crossdressers and gangs. The law enforcement issues are different, too. Not police on the street. Lots of other scenarios that made me really reach and, I hope readers will enjoy the book.

      ((Hugs))

      • Laurie Sanders says:

It’s interesting to hear that you’ve moved into new territory with Krewe Daddy. I think it’s great when authors stretch…move into new areas…approach different issues…new scenarios. It dangles out the promise of something a tad bit new – a tad bit different for those of us who like a little new with the familiar elements of a romance.

        • I sometimes kick myself for coming up with complicated situations and ideas that I don’t know anything about. and then I moan and complain about all the research. Yeah. I’m a whiner in that department, for sure. I’ve written two suspense novels before and this one is completely different. I love it. :-)

  • I can’t wait to read both of these great looking stories, and I’ll definitely be adding Bound for Love to my TBR. :)

Just dropping by to show some love, not to win prizes. Margie, you’re great! Keep up the wonderful work!

Good morning folks. Well, technically, its afternoon, hey, I work nights, so I’m backasswards.

KD is a compelling read. I’m not an ardent fan of M/M, however, I enjoy a story-no matter the genre, if its well crafted. KD meticulously researched and the plot is unique and captivating. As are the characters. It’s a must read, pure and simple.

Razor is equaling compelling. Working with Margie not only has improved my skills as an author, in terms of the nuts and bolts of grammar and editing, but also as a story-teller. The collaboration has and is, priceless.

Razor is decidedly adult, not so much in the terms culturally one associates with the word, but in terms of intelligence and complexity of psycho emotional dynamics.

And..erotically, its smoking HOT. It possess doses of wry humor that are indeed laugh out loud funny.

I’m going to make a bold statement: If any one has read or is reading Fifty Shades of Gray ( I’m reading it as as well. Having major issues with it concerning the quality of writing and editing)

Once have completed reading the juvenile fantasy of BDSM, do yourself a favor, read Razor the short story and the novel version.

I guarantee it will resonate deeply and your brain (and libido) will thank you.

    • Smooch, my friend. It’s so much fun to write with you, too. And when Razor is over, I’ll definitely miss it.

And thanks for the shout out about Krewe Daddy. I love that story. I think men and women both will.

    • Thank you Casea. Bound for Love does have some extreme kink. Razor is interesting and sizzling, but definitely not as heavy-duty on the BDSM elements as some of the other stories in the anthology. I hope you enjoy the book. Let me know what you think of Razor!

  • Laurie Sanders says:

    Good morning Margie!

Which book would I rather win? That IS a very difficult question. I told you I’d think on it for today…and I have…though I still don’t have a decision. :)

Both books appeal strongly to me…though I think for different reasons.

Krewe Daddy, I think, appeals to me because there is so much room for conflict between these two characters…and because they have such a long way to go to get to the happy ever after ending. In romance I like a BIG conflict…something difficult to overcome. It seems like Krewe Daddy has that in spades. I also like reunion type romances and this book is clearly that type of story. That the story is MM is not really an attraction for me…nor is it a detractor. I generally prefer M/F romances simply because that is my orientation and so what I relate to most strongly, but other things like the type of story, the type of conflict, are more important than sexual orientation in my choice of books. Falling in love is pretty similar whether you are male or female I think…or regardless of the combination of partners.

I am a fan of BDSM romance and so Razor appeals on that score. I also like the somewhat undefined sub-genre of erotic romance wherein the hero and heroine want something different sexually than they have at the outset of the book. I like stories that focus on the characters finding a way to have the sex lives they want with the hero or heroine they are with.

There are a lot of stories where the hero or heroine has had an unsatisfactory sexual relationship in the past…then they find a new relationship. I read the books where they start with a new relationship too…but there is something special about people finding happiness (including a satisfying sexual relationship) with people they are already in a relationship with. Razor appeals on that score.

So…end result…both books are on my TBP list.

    • Interesting, Laurie. I think you’ve nailed Krewe Daddy pretty well. When I step away the the sexual pairing (m/m vs. hetero) and just look at the fact that these two men love each other, it’s a fabulous story of redemption. I never thought I’d enjoy writing m/m romances, but researching these relationships has opened my eyes and my heart to the fact that love is what it is. That is why I encourage those who’ve never read a M/M to pick one.

Razor – Amy and Bryce don’t have an unsatisfactory sexual relationship in the basic sense of the definition. Amy is very satisfied in bed with her husband. What she wants to change is his ability for him to give her more. His perspective is narrow. This is a huge challenge for Bryce. In addition, the struggle to keep their marriage together – keeping the end game in sight. Both Raine and Amy want to keep their friendship in tact. All three of them want to get something richer than they had. Their pursuit is really the core of this story. What will it be? The full novel version will really be fascinating. And KB and I are discussing a sequel. :-) You heard it here first.

  • Starla Kaye says:

I hope you’re ready for a high-caffeine day and answering many comments. I was so happy to see you posting here about your books. They both intrigue me, but now I’m going to add Razor to my TBR list.

    • The short story RAZOR is just a huge tease. The book is so interesting. Honestly we are having a ball writing it. It’s so fun to mess with people’s lives on paper!

      • Laurie Sanders says:

It really is fun to mess with people’s lives on paper. It is fun to create people who seem so real that we know them like friends. And it’s fun to give them trials and tribulations…and then gently lead them toward overcoming them.

There is something about creating people…and worlds…and setting them all in motion… MAGIC~!

        • Laurie, don’t you wish we could somehow map our own lives out this way? Sure would be simpler! KB and I are really having fun with the psycho-emotional aspects of this book. How would this character react? What will readers think of that? Lots of great conversations between us to make Razor a very plausible story.

          • Laurie Sanders says:

Hmmm…I’m not sure I’d want to map my own life the way I do with characters. I sort of like the surprise factor in real life…not knowing how things will turn out.

Psycho and emotional aspects are a lot of fun. It’s really the part I enjoy most about writing. Figuring out how the character would react…and how the other character would react to that reaction…showing why the character would react in the way they do…even if the reader might not react the same way.

  • Josie says:

I like the sound of Krewe Daddy. I’ve not read any of your books before and that sounds like a great one to start with.
