When it’s time for authors to sit down and write, we all have different ways of going about it. For some people, the perfect heroine comes to mind and they sit down to write that character’s story. Other people think of a high-conflict plot they’d love write.

As for me, I usually get an image in my head of a scene. It might even be a snippet of a scene. But in that scene, I can imagine what the heroine and Hero look like, what they’re thinking, what they’re doing… and it all comes from there. For my latest Ellora’s Cave erotic romance, Chastity Belt, I had two scene-snippets running through my head, and those inspired the story.

First, I had this vision of a woman in a club, tied to a chair and being eaten out by a dozen or so men, one after the other. I had no idea how a scene like that was going to make it into a romance novella, but trust me when I say I made it happen, LOL! The other scene I thought of that inspired the book was of this same woman looking down and realizing she’s just been locked into a real steel chastity belt, and that she has no control over when it comes off.

With the blindfold on, she had no idea how long she’d been there or how much longer she would be enduring the talented tongues of the Gentlemen’s Club clientele. Then she heard a familiar voice. Jonathan. Her pulse inexplicably raced at the sound of his voice as he leaned into her ear. She could feel the warmth of his skin, feel the whisper of his hot breath on her ear and smell just the slightest whiff of expensive cologne.

“I’ve seen you naked,” he said, amusement creeping into his deep voice. “Why would you turn around so I can’t see your breasts as you dress?”

Georgia laughed and turned around again. “I don’t know. Can you unlock me so I can put my panties and skirt back on?”

“You can put your skirt back on over the chastity belt.”

The thought stopped her cold. Her fantasy was just that, a fantasy. She could never act it out in real life, even if the thought turned her on. It just wasn’t rational. “Um, no thanks. I’m leaving now, so…unlock me.”

Jonathan fingered the key in his hand before slipping it into his pocket. “No.”
