Pardon Our Dust!

Please pardon our dust while we rebuild the Black Velvet Seductions website.

Black Velvet Seductions launched in December of 2005. Since that time the website has been revised several times but it has not had a from the ground up makeover. It was very much over due and is now being spiffed and shined. You can watch the progress here.

While you’re waiting for the rebirth of our site check out all the fun, contests, guest authors at our blog.

Check out our books at Amazon.com, All Romance Ebooks, Barnes & Noble, and wherever books are sold.

Hi. I tried to email a question regarding a manuscript that I submitted a year and a few months ago and found that the email address no longer works. Is there a new email address or are things on hold until the website is finished? I’m excited to see the new look; it sounds like it will be great! Thank you for your time.

    Hello,

I see that the website is changing and I’m super excited to see the new look!

I’m looking for some information on current guidelines for short pieces. I have a finished manuscript that I would love for you to take a look at but I want to make sure that I’m not wasting your time.

    Thanks,

    J

  • Hello there, I love your blog blackvelvetseductions.com . Is there something I can do to receive updates like a subscription or some thing? I am sorry I’m not acquainted with RSS?

  • David Trebus says:

    Hey Laurie

I thought I would try posting a comment as I’d imagine your inbox is pretty busy.

I was wondering how my submission was doing? If it got to you ok and if you’d had the chance to take a look at it yet?

The book was called Guardian Angel

    Many thanks!

    • Laurie Sanders says:

      Hi David,

Actually my inbox is empty at the moment. (It’s rare for that to happen).

I’m sorry to say, that I haven’t received your manuscript…at least I am not finding it under your name…which is how we file manuscripts. Would it have been submitted under a pen name perhaps?

Please resubmit it as an email attachment. Mail it to me at: LaurieSanders@blackvelvetseductions.com

        Hey Laurie

Hope all is going well with the website Overhaul!

I was wondering how my submission was progressing? Or if you required any further information?

        Many thanks

        David

Hi, My name is Rontora (Tori) and I am looking for a publisher. I know you guys are busy so I was wondering if I submitted and I was not what you were looking for could you give me some pointers on what I need to improve. I have wanted to write since I can remember and I am going to keep moving forward to my goals. I have so many stories to tell and any pointers would be great!

    • Laurie Sanders says:

      Hi Tori,

We have a lot of things that are designed to help writers reach publication. First of all, we have a writers newsletter, a free writer’s chat with a lesson on some aspect of writing – most Friday nights during the year, and occasional free workshops.

Those things are designed to help move you toward publication before you submit your manuscript…so that it is hopefully in good shape when you submit it.

But to answer your question, yes, we are one of the few publishers who does give specific feedback on manuscripts, even those we reject. :)

  • Camila says:

Hey all…thanks for the feedback. One thing I did want to meniotn, though, while yes, I would definitely do some work on this, if I were to get the book up to my current standards, so to speak, it would require rewriting the book entirely. Which would change the story substantially and I really don’t want to do that. It’s not my best work, definitely, but unfortunately, polishing it to that point would require story changes I’m just not willing to make…not with this story. Since it was my first romance, it is special to me and I don’t want to make major changes, just because of that.

    • Laurie Sanders says:

That’s always your option Camila. When we provide feedback on a manuscript we’re essentially informing the author of what changes would need to happen for the piece to work for us. The changes we would require may be different than those another publisher would require. However, that said, it is always up to the author whether to make changes or not.

  • Wesley Siler says:

    Hello Laurie!
Sorry I have not been in touch, but I have been crafting a novel I hope you will love. it’s approx 200 pages, I just wanted you to know I had not forgotten that I had said I would send something in

  • Mary Blanski says:

I see your web site has changed, recently. I have a complete novel and am asking do you want my work via snail mail or email. Or, would you prefer a detailed synopsis, with a query letter perhaps?
    Thank you for your attention!
